Since the temperature today was about 30 degrees Celsius we decided to grab some ice cream after dinner. After doing some peliminary research on the internet (I love researching!) we decided to check out Black Bear Ice Cream on the waterfront.
When we first stepped up to the ice cream shack it looked like your everyday Halifax water front food shack. I realize buying food from a "shack" doesn't sound very appetizing but it is the best I could come up with and if you have ever been in Halifax you know what I am talking about :). The one negative we found with the setup was the way they had the ice cream displayed. The problem was they didn't... Part of the fun of getting ice cream is gazing at all the delicious looking deserts and choosing by sight, at least for me :D. The only way to make your choice here was to read the names of the ice cream on the board (no descriptions), it wasn't nearly as fun but it still did the job.
We both chose to keep it simple and have double scoop cones. I had cherry vanilla and Miranda had chocolate chip cookie dough. $3.71 + tax, $1 extra if you wanted a sugar or waffle cone. No real complaints about the ice cream itself. It was pretty tasty!
The combining of ice cream and cone could have been done a little better. The scoops were placed on top of the cone and each other. There was no smushing done. The smushing step is very crucial as it prevents the ice cream from falling out of the cone. A less experienced ice cream eater may have had a terrible incident but we smushed it ourself! Disaster was averted ;)
Pros:
Tasty treats
Cost was pretty low
Cons:
Not able to view ice cream before purchase
Absence of smushing action
Overall it was a very satisfiying way to cool down at the end of the day. We will probably go back to try out some of the more exciting options available soon.

Halifax Hot Spots
Hey all, welcome!
My sister and I had the idea for this blog while enjoying a beautiful summer day in Halifax. We went out to dinner for sushi and then had iceream on the waterfront. While we were enjoying our icecream we started talking about how we should try out some of the other places to buy ice cream this summer and pick our favourite.
While talking about this little quest of ours we had the brilliant idea to blog about it. I mean, it's not like it hasn't been done before... right? We just thought it would be a fun way to record some of our summer escapades. If others (like you perhaps) run across it and enjoy it too then that makes it even better!
Our first quest will obviously be to compare and pick our favourite ice cream. We don't have pictures for today but we plan to take some (probably silly ones) from here on in. We aren't professional restaurant reviewers and the contents of this blog will solely be our opinions.
We live in a beautiful city, what's not to write about? :D
